How can I help?

It takes very little to lift a vulnerable woman to socioeconomic independence.  With your help, we can give voice to the women most underserved in countries where their voices most need to be heard.

 

Give a one-time donation or join our monthly donation program.  Every gift helps and empowerment comes from any amount given. Your donation will go towards skills and business development and community empowerment for the women.  Large or small your donations will make a difference in the lives of these amazing women. When the women become proficient in their artisan skill, we will help them sell their products.  All proceeds from the sale of Willow Tree Roots products go back to the women and their projects.  You can help support these amazing women by purchasing with purpose from our Shop.

It is very important to their success that the women learn to engage with people outside of their community.  You can volunteer at one of our projects and help the women while simultaneously yourself engaging in an invaluable cultural experience.

How much money does it take to help lift a woman up to empowerment?

It takes very little to lift a woman to empowerment.  For as little as $30 a month you can provide a woman with the skills she needs to become a successful entrepreneur and business owner and leader in her community.

 

How will the money from my donation be used?

Every single penny of your donation goes directly to support in-country programs.  That means that 100% of your support goes to where it is needed!  All of our United States workers are volunteers; the only salaries that are paid are to the in-country coordinators and instructors who are themselves members of the underrepresented groups we seek to empower.  Our programs seek to empower women in all aspect of leadership, including our in-country coordinators.

 

How does a woman benefit from my donation?

100% of all public donations are used directly to support the women and our programs.  A sponsor's contribution provides an underrepresented woman with income-generation skills, business and entrepreneurial training, rights awareness and community support for the women in the programs.  Your support of the women will help them discover their self-worth, help her find her passion to succeed, and give her the tools she needs to succeed where she can become a business and community leader

 

Can I pick which program or country I want to sponsor?

To ensure all gifts entrusted to us have maximum impact, in most cases your sponsorship gift is combined with gifts from other sponsors, contributors, government and foundation grants to fund our work to benefit women, their families, and their communities.  Some projects allow you to sponsor certain women in the program and at certain times we run fundraising campaigns for the specific needs of each project country and those can be found here.

 

What are Willow Tree Roots' plans to expand to other countries?

Currently, our programs are in Kenya, Peru, Nepal and in vulnerable communities in the United States.  Our goal is to work with women in countries that are culturally diverse and therefore we will eventually be expanding our programs to other countries.  We believe that success for the women lies not only in providing them with the skills they need to succeed as individuals, but in connecting them together as a global community of women who are more similar than different.  With this in mind, our hope is to connect the women to each other through conferences and communication.

Does Willow Tree Roots have employment opportunities?

At this time Willow Tree Roots does not offer any paid job opportunities. If you are looking for experience within a nonprofit servicing underrepresented women and developing nations we do have unpaid volunteer opportunities available.   Please be aware that Willow Tree Roots operates mainly out of Sacramento County, California.
